MEN'S BIBLE STUDY GROUP
Current Session: Sept. 4 - Nov. 20, 2008 on Thursdays 7:30pm
For information contact: Men's Group
Purpose -- The purpose of the Men's Group is to encourage, equip
and hold one another accountable to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Goals -- The goal is that we would learn how to become the man that
God has designed and intended us to be, a better husband, father and Christian.
A secondary goal is to multiply ourselves by reaching out to other men
who would also benefit from being in a mid-week study.
This is accomplished through weekly meetings, utilizing a study book which
focuses on understanding and applying scripture with emphasis on the man's
role as a leader in his home, work and in the church. One of the methods
is to each take a turn facilitating the study. This does many things: it gives
everyone an opportunity to learn how to lead a small group; it helps each
person take responsibility for the group as a whole; it causes each person
to dig deeper in preparation; it eliminates domination by any one individual
and it takes the burden off any one single person.
Meeting Format -- First 10 minutes of catching up on the week. Open
in prayer. Have 45 minutes of inductive study to go over the assigned chapter,
answering observation, interpretation and application questions. Talk about the "take home application
point" and how it impacts us specifically for about 10 minutes. Close in
conversational/intercessory prayer for 15 minutes. Total time of 1 1/2 hours.
